The word yoga means “union” and refers to the union of the mind and body and the self and the universe. It is an ancient science of life that originates from India and dates back thousands of years.
Yoga postures (asanas) help to develop strength and flexibility in the body, stimulate the internal organs, the body’s glands and the nervous system and therefore benefit general health and wellbeing.
The breathing exercises (pranayama) develop mental alertness and concentration. They help to restore the body’s balance by stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system and are therefore a powerful tool for managing stress and anxiety.
Helena’s yoga classes combine physical postures (asanas) with breathing and explore different relaxation and mindfulness techniques to balance the body, mind and spirit.
